Uxía Senlle

Uxía, 'the voice of the Atlantic', is considered one of the greatest ambassadors of Galician music and poetry. In her more than 30 years of artistic career, she renewed traditional Galician music connecting it with Atlantic cultures, combining traditional alalas with morna, fado or Brazilian rhythms.

Some of the most recurrent themes that she explores in her works are the search for a space for the voice of women, dialogue between cultures, contemporary Galician and Portuguese poetry and the defense of linguistic identity.

She created her repertoire through continuous trips and exchanges with musicians from Brazil, Portugal, Cape Verde or Guinea-Bissau, such as Dulce Pontes, António Zambujo, Sara Tavares ou Tito Paris, and in Spain with artists such as Kepa Junkera, Pedro Guerra, Rozalén , Santiago Auserón, Martirio, Javier Ruibal or Sílvia Pérez Cruz.

Shee published 13 albums, for which she has received important awards, including the "Premio da Cultura Gallega 2017" or the "Premio MIN de la Música Independiente 2018" for the Best Album in Galician by UXIA-O.

Among other projects, she is the artistic director and alma mater of the International Festival of Lusofonía Cantos na maré or the inclusive musical project María Fumaça.
